Halloween Costume Party Ideas: Basic Halloween
Decorations
The Big Cover Up : The Secret to Decorating Success
You certainly have a variety of choices when it
comes to transforming the den into a real party
room. Our favorite way is to cover everything in the
room with white sheets: everything, including the
curtains, the walls, the furniture, which gets rid
of all the clutter and mundane objects. This creates
what would be considered a blank canvas which if
you’re an artist can be sort of scary in itself! It
is kind of like putting on the foundation before you
apply your eye makeup and lipstick!
Quick Change Artist
What you have given yourself is the backdrop or
background that allows you to create the real tone
of your party theme.
Your party mood will be set in minutes once you have
filled the room up with a mural of your chosen party
theme. Our favorite, by far, is the Twinkle Star
(buy here)
mural because we can use it for so many different
themes, like the "
Hollywood, , Avatar
and Asteroids.
But you might also love to have your party theme as
an aquarium. You can
save your mural and use it for a Gilligan's Island
party, too!
Double Duty
What can I use to create a romantic look?
Gossamer is also a cool material to disguise the
daily look, being transparent, it’s light and airy
and drapes well over anything, chairs, bookcases
and tables, ceilings, doors, walls and floors. Add
some twinkle lights for a sheerly beautiful effect.
Gossamer lends a romantic, dreamy feel to your
party, but it can also be used to create a cloudy or
ghostly effect, as well.

Gossamer and Other
Party Supplies
I
like it eerie.
Polyvinyl can cure the problem of patterned
curtains, bookshelves and so on. It is opaque and
you can also use it to block out light coming in
from other rooms! It is sold in huge rolls, for
economy, and comes in lots of different colors. You
can poke tiny pin holes in the vinyl to let in only
pinpoints of light, for a starry effect.
Plain or patterned paper in extra wide widths is
also available. It’s a lot cheaper, but you will
find your self buying it again for the next party.
And that might be just around the corner. But this
is the perfect option for surrounding the buffet
table with lots of color.
So then, once you have the foundation, you will
really see a dramatic effect after you add the
details, because they will stand out more on a plain
or simple background. Even if you did nothing more
than put twinkle lights up, or even paper lanterns,
you would have created a wonderful space for your
guests to relax and have fun!
