Silent Night
This lyrics for this carol
were written by a young
Austrian priest from
Salzburg, Fr. Joseph More
(1792-1848). It was first
publicly sung on Midnight
Mass on Christmas Eve, 1818
at St.Nikolas Church in
Oberndorf, accompanied by
organist Franz Gruber, the
man who came up with the
song's melody.
Silent night, Holy night,
All is calm, all is bright
'Round yon virgin mother and
Child!
Holy Infant so tender and
mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.
Silent night, Holy night
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven
afar,
Heavenly hosts sing
"Alleluia"
Christ the Savior is born.
Christ the Savior is born.
Silent night, Holy night
Son of God, love's pure
light
Radiant beams from Thy Holy
Face
With the dawn of redeeming
grace.
Jesus, Lord at Thy birth.
Jesus, Lord at Thy birth.
What Child is This?
Melody based on the 16th
Century English song, "Greensleeves"
What Child is this who, laid
to rest
On Mary's lap is sleeping?
Whom Angels greet with
anthems sweet,
While shepherds watch are
keeping?
This, this is Christ the
King,
Whom shepherds guard and
Angels sing;
Haste, haste, to bring Him
laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.
Why lies He in such mean
estate,
Where ox and ass are
feeding?
Good Christians, fear, for
sinners here
The silent Word is pleading.
Nails, spear shall pierce
Him through,
The Cross be borne for me,
for you.
Hail, hail the Word made
flesh,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.
So bring Him incense, gold
and myrrh,
Come peasant, king to own
Him;
The King of kings salvation
brings,
Let loving hearts enthrone
Him.
Raise, raise a song on high,
The virgin sings her
lullaby.
Joy, joy for Christ is born,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.
Angels We Have Heard on
High
Angels we have heard on high
Sweetly singing o'er the
plains,
And the mountains in reply
Echoing their joyous
strains.
Refrain:
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!
Shepherds, why this jubilee?
Why your joyous strains
prolong?
What the gladsome tidings be
Which inspire your heavenly
song? Refrain
Come to Bethlehem and see
Christ whose birth the
angels sing;
Come, adore on bended knee,
Christ the Lord, the newborn
King. Refrain
See Him in a manger laid,
Whom the choirs of angels
praise;
Mary, Joseph, lend your aid,
While our hearts in love we
raise. Refrain
God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen
Words: Traditional English,
18th Century
Music: English Carol, 18th
Century
God rest you merry,
gentlemen,
Let nothing you dismay.
For Jesus Christ our Savior,
Was born on Christmas Day;
To save us all from Satan’s
power,
When we were gone astray.
Chorus:
O tidings of comfort and
joy,
Comfort and joy;
O tidings of comfort and
joy.
In Bethlehem, in Jury,
This blessed Babe was born,
And laid within a manger,
Upon this blessed morn;
The which His mother Mary
Did nothing take in scorn.
Chorus
From God our heavenly
Father,
A blessed angel came.
And unto certain shepherds,
Brought tidings of the same,
How that in Bethlehem was
born,
The Son of God by name:
Chorus
Fear not, then said the
Angel,
Let nothing you affright,
This day is born a Savior,
Of virtue, power, and might;
So frequently to vanquish
all,
The friends of Satan quite;
Chorus
The shepherds at those
tidings,
Rejoiced much in mind,
And left their flocks a
feeding,
In tempest, storm, and wind,
And went to Bethlehem
straightway,
This blessed babe to find:
Chorus
But when to Bethlehem they
came,
Whereas this infant lay
They found him in a manger,
Where oxen feed on hay;
His mother Mary kneeling,
Unto the Lord did pray:
Chorus
Now to the Lord sing
praises,
All you within this place,
And with true love and
brotherhood,
Each other now embrace;
This holy tide of Christmas,
Doth bring redeeming grace.
Chorus
God bless the ruler of this
house,
And send him long to reign,
And many a merry Christmas
May live to see again;
Among your friends and
kindred
That live both far and near.
Hark! The Herald Angels
Sing
Words: Hark How All The
Welkin Rings, Charles Wesley
(1707-1788)
Music: "Mendelssohn," Felix
Mendelssohn, 1840. Arranged
by William Hayman Cummings;
first presented Christmas
Day, 1855
Hark! The herald angels
sing,
"Glory to the new-born King;
Peace on earth, and mercy
mild,
God and sinners reconciled!"
Joyful, all ye nations,
rise.
Join the triumph of the
skies.
With angelic hosts proclaim,
"Christ is born in
Bethlehem!"
Hark! the herald angels
sing,
"Glory to the new-born
King."
Christ, by highest heaven
adored,
Christ the everlasting lord
Late in time behold him
come,
Off-spring of the virgin's
womb
Veiled in flesh the Godhead
see,
Hail th' incarnate deity
Pleased as Man with men to
dwell,
Jesus our Emmanuel.
Hark the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the new-born
king!"
Hail the heav'n-born Prince
of Peace,
Hail, the Son of
Righteousness
Light and life to all He
brings,
Ris'n with healing in His
wings.
Mild He lays His throne on
high,
Born that man no more may
die
Born to raise the sons of
earth,
Born to give them second
birth.
Hark the herald angels sing,
Glory to the new-born king.
Come, Desire of nations
come,
Fix in us Thy humble home;
Oh, to all Thyself impart,
Formed in each believing
heart!
Hark! the herald angels
sing,
"Glory to the new-born king;
Peace on earth and mercy
mild,
God and sinners reconciled!"
Hark! the herald angels
sing,
"Glory to the new born
King!"
Adam's likeness, Lord,
efface,
Stamp Thine image in its
place:
Second Adam from above,
Reinstate us in Thy love.
Let us Thee, though lost,
regain,
Thee, the Life, the inner
man:
O, to all Thyself impart,
Formed in each believing
heart.
Hark! the herald angels
sing,
"Glory to the newborn King!"
Away in a Manger
Words: Unknown, 1885
Away in a manger, no crib
for His bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid
down His sweet head;
The stars in the sky looked
down where He lay,
The little Lord Jesus,
asleep in the hay.
The cattle are lowing, the
poor Baby wakes.
But little Lord Jesus, no
crying He makes.
I love thee, Lord Jesus,
look down from the sky.
And stay by the cradle till
morning is nigh.
Be near me, Lord Jesus, I
ask Thee to stay,
Close by me forever, and
love me, I pray!
Bless all the dear children
in Thy tender care
And take us to heaven, to
Live with Thee there.
The First Noel
The first Noel that the
Angel did say,
Was to certain poor
Shepherds in fields as they
lay,
In fields as they lay
a-keeping their sheep,
On a cold winter's night
that was freezing so deep.
Chorus:
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel,
Born is the King of Israel.
They looked up above, to the
East where a Star
That beyond them shone out
in the Heavens from afar,
And which to the earth did
send down a great light,
And so it continued by day
and by night. Chorus
And then by the light of
that bright guiding Star,
There came three Wise Men
from a country afar;
To seek for a King, it was
their intent,
And to follow the Star
wherever it went. Chorus
The Star went before them
unto the North West,
And seemed o'er the City of
Bethlehem to rest,
And there did remain by
night and by day,
Right over the place where
Jesus Christ lay. Chorus
Then entered they all, and
those Wise Men three
Most reverently worshiped
with low bended knee;
And offered to Christ in His
Sacred Presence,
Gifts of Gold, and of Myrrh,
and of sweet Frankincense.
Chorus
And now Christians all, with
most gladsome accord,
Sing praises, sing praises
to Jesus our Lord,
That made both the Heaven,
and the Earth out of nought,
And with His Own Blood our
Redemption hath wrought.
Chorus
O
Holy Night
O holy night, the stars are
brightly shining;
It is the night of the dear
Savior’s birth!
Long lay the world in sin
and error pining,
Till He appeared and the
soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope, the weary
soul rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and
glorious morn.
Fall on your knees, O hear
the angel voices!
O night divine, O night when
Christ was born!
O night, O holy night, O
night divine!
Led by the light of faith
serenely beaming,
With glowing hearts by His
cradle we stand.
So led by light of a star
sweetly gleaming,
Here came the wise men from
Orient land.
The King of kings lay thus
in lowly manger,
In all our trials born to be
our friend!
Fall on your knees, O hear
the angel voices!
O night divine, O night when
Christ was born!
O night, O holy night, O
night divine!
Truly He taught us to love
one another;
His law is love and His
Gospel is peace.
Chains shall He break for
the slave is our brother
And in His Name all
oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in
grateful chorus raise we,
Let all within us praise His
holy Name!
Fall on your knees, O hear
the angel voices!
O night divine, O night when
Christ was born!
O night, O holy night, O
night divine!
It Came Upon a Midnight
Clear
Edmund Hamilton Sears (a
Unitarian minister), 1849,
and its "Unitarian-ness"
shows. It first appeared in
the Christian Register,
1849. Music: "Carol,"
Richard Storrs Willis, 1850
It came upon the midnight
clear,
That glorious song of old,
From angels bending near the
earth,
To touch their harps of
gold;
"Peace on the earth, good
will to men,
From heaven’s all gracious
King."
The world in solemn
stillness lay,
To hear the angels sing.
Still through the cloven
skies they come,
With peaceful wings unfurl
And still their heavenly
music floats,
O'er all the weary world.
Above its sad and lowly
plains,
They bend on hovering wing
And ever o'er its Babel
sounds,
The blessed angels sing.
Yet with the woes of sin and
strife,
The world has suffered long;
Beneath the angel-strain
have rolled,
Two thousand years of wrong;
And man, at war with man,
hears not,
The love song which they
bring:
O hush the noise, ye men of
strife,
And hear the angels sing.
And ye, beneath life's
crushing load,
Whose forms are bending low
Who toil along the climbing
way
With painful steps and slow
Look now! for glad and
golden hours
Come swiftly on the wing
O rest beside the weary road
And hear the angels sing.
For lo! the days are
hastening on,
By prophet bards foretold,
When, with the ever-circling
years,
Shall come the Age of Gold;
When peace shall over all
the earth,
Its ancient splendors fling,
And all the world give back
the song,
Which now the angels sing.
Do You Hear What I Hear?
Said the night wind to the
little lamb,
do you see what I see
Way up in the sky, little
lamb,
do you see what I see
A star, a star, dancing in
the night
With a tail as big as a kite
With a tail as big as a kite
Said the little lamb to the
shepherd boy,
do you hear what I hear
Ringing through the sky,
shepherd boy,
do you hear what I hear
A song, a song, high above
the trees
With a voice as big as the
sea
With a voice as big as the
sea
Said the shepherd boy to the
mighty king,
do you know what I know
In your palace warm, mighty
king,
do you know what I know
A Child, a Child shivers in
the cold
Let us bring Him silver and
gold
Let us bring Him silver and
gold
Said the king to the people
everywhere,
listen to what I say
Pray for peace, people
everywhere!
listen to what I say
The Child, the Child,
sleeping in the night
He will bring us goodness
and light
He will bring us goodness
and light
Joy to the World
Words: Isaac Watts
Music: "Antioch," Lowell
Mason, 1848. Mason's
original score said "from
George Frederick Handel,"
but it is actually from
Handel.
Joy to the world! The Lord
is come.
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him
room;
And heav’n and nature sing,
And heav’n and nature sing.
And heav’n and heav’n and
nature sing.
Joy to the world, the Savior
reigns
Let men their songs employ.
While fields and floods,
Rocks, hills, and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy
Repeat the sounding joy
No more let sin and sorrows
grow,
Nor thorns infest the
ground;
He comes to make His
blessings flow
Far as the curse is found,
Far as the curse is found,
Far as, far as the curse is
found.
He rules the world with
truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His
righteousness.
And wonders of His love,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders, wonders of His
love.
O Little Town of Bethlehem
Words: Phillips Brooks,
1868.
Music: "St. Louis," Lewis
Henry Redner, 1868.
O little town of Bethlehem,
how still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless
sleep
the silent stars go by.
Yet in thy dark streets
shineth
the everlasting Light;
The hopes and fears of all
the years
are met in thee tonight.
For Christ is born of Mary,
and gathered all above,
While mortals sleep, the
angels keep
their watch of wondering
love.
O morning stars together,
proclaim the holy birth,
And praises sing to God the
King,
and peace to men on earth!
How silently, how silently,
the wondrous Gift is given;
So God imparts to human
hearts
the blessings of His heaven.
No ear may hear His coming,
but in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will
receive Him still,
the dear Christ enters in.
Where children pure and
happy
pray to the blessed Child,
Where misery cries out to
Thee,
Son of the mother mild;
Where charity stands
watching
and faith holds wide the
door,
The dark night wakes, the
glory breaks,
and Christmas comes once
more.
O holy Child of Bethlehem,
descend to us, we pray;
Cast out our sin, and enter
in,
be born in us today.
We hear the Christmas
angels,
the great glad tidings tell;
O come to us, abide with us,
our Lord Emmanuel!
The Holly and the Ivy
Words: Traditional
Music: Old French Carol
The holly and the ivy,
Now both are full well
grown.
Of all the trees that are in
the wood,
The holly bears the crown.
Chorus:
Oh, the rising of the sun,
The running of the deer.
The playing of the merry
organ,
Sweet singing in the quire.
The holly bears a blossom
As white as lily flower;
And Mary bore sweet Jesus
Christ
To be our sweet Savior.
Chorus
The holly bears a berry
As red as any blood;
And Mary bore sweet Jesus
Christ
To do poor sinners good.
Chorus
The holly bears a prickle
As sharp as any thorn;
And Mary bore sweet Jesus
Christ
On Christmas day in the
morn. Chorus
The holly bears a bark
As bitter as any gall;
And Mary bore sweet Jesus
Christ
For to redeem us all.
Chorus
The holly and the ivy,
When they are both full
grown,
Of all the trees that are in
the wood,
The holly bears the crown.
Chorus
The rising of the sun
And the running of the deer,
The playing of the merry
organ,
Sweet singing in the choir.
Chorus
I Saw Three Ships
The Magis' relics' trip to
Cologne -- said to have
taken place on three
separate ships -- is the
genesis of this carol. The
lyrics were later amended to
speak of the Holy Family
rather than the Magi, and of
their sailing to Bethlehem
(a physical impossibility in
real life) rather than to
Cologne.
I saw three ships come
sailing in
On Christmas day, on
Christmas day;
I saw three ships come
sailing in
On Christmas day in the
morning.
And what was in those ships
all three,
On Christmas day, on
Christmas day?
And what was in those ships
all three,
On Christmas day in the
morning?
Our Savior Christ and His
lady,
On Christmas day, on
Christmas day;
Our Savior Christ and His
lady,
On Christmas day in the
morning.
Pray whither sailed those
ships all three,
On Christmas day, on
Christmas day?
Pray whither sailed those
ships all three,
On Christmas day in the
morning?
O they sailed into
Bethlehem,
On Christmas day, on
Christmas day,
O they sailed into
Bethlehem,
On Christmas day in the
morning.
And all the bells on earth
shall ring,
On Christmas day, on
Christmas day;
And all the bells on earth
shall ring,
On Christmas day in the
morning.
And all the angels in Heav’n
shall sing,
On Christmas day, on
Christmas day;
And all the angels in Heav’n
shall sing,
On Christmas day in the
morning.
And all the souls on Earth
shall sing,
On Christmas day, on
Christmas day;
And all the souls on Earth
shall sing,
On Christmas day in the
morning.
Then let us all rejoice
again,
On Christmas day, on
Christmas day;
Then let us rejoice again,
On Christmas day in the
morning.
We three Kings of Orient Are
We three kings of Orient
are,
bearing gifts we traverse
afar,
field and fountain, moor and
mountain,
following yonder star.
Refrain:
O star of wonder, star of
night,
star with royal beauty
bright;
westward leading, still
proceeding,
guide us to thy perfect
light!
Born a King on Bethlehem's
plain,
gold I bring to crown him
again,
King for ever, ceasing never
Over us all to reign.
Refrain
Frankincense to offer have
I:
incense owns a Deity nigh;
prayer and praising, gladly
raising,
worship him, God Most High.
Refrain
Myrrh is mine; its bitter
perfume
Breathes a life of gathering
gloom;
sorrowing, sighing,
bleeding, dying,
sealed in the stone-cold
tomb. Refrain
Glorious now behold him
arise,
King and God and Sacrifice;
heaven sings, alleluia;
alleluia the earth replies.
Refrain

Carol of the Bells
Words and Music: Mykola
Dmytrovich Leontovych, 1916
Hark how the bells,
sweet silver bells,
all seem to say,
throw cares away
Christmas is here,
bringing good cheer,
to young and old,
meek and the bold,
Ding dong ding dong
that is their song
with joyful ring
all caroling
One seems to hear
words of good cheer
from everywhere
filling the air
Oh how they pound,
raising the sound,
o'er hill and dale,
telling their tale,
Gaily they ring
while people sing
songs of good cheer,
Christmas is here,
Merry, merry, merry, merry
Christmas,
Merry, merry, merry, merry
Christmas,
On on they send,
on without end,
their joyful tone
to every home
Dong Ding dong ding... dong!
Bong!
Caroling, Caroling
By Wihla Hutson
Caroling, caroling, now we
go
Christmas bells are ringing
Caroling, caroling thru the
snow
Christmas bells are ringing
Joyous voices sweet and
clear
Sing the sad of heart to
cheer
Ding dong, ding dong
Christmas bells are ringing
Caroling, caroling thru the
town
Christmas bells are ringing
Caroling, caroling up and
down
Christmas bells are ringing
Mark ye well the song we
sing
Gladsome tidings now we
bring
Ding dong, ding dong
Christmas bells are ringing!
Caroling, caroling, near and
far
Christmas bells are ringing
Following, following yonder
star
Christmas bells are ringing
Sing we all this happy morn
"Lo, the King of heav'n is
born!"
Ding dong, ding dong
Christmas bells are ringing!
Silver Bells
City sidewalks, busy
sidewalks.
Dressed in holiday style
In the air there's a feeling
of Christmas
Children laughing, People
passing
Meeting smile after smile
and on every street corner
you'll hear
Silver bells, silver bells
It's Christmas time in the
city
Ring-a-ling, hear them sing
Soon it will be Christmas
day
Strings of street lights,
even stop lights
Blink a bright red and green
As the shoppers rush home
with their treasures
Hear the snow crunch, see
the kids bunch
This is Santa's big scene,
and above all this bustle
you'll hear
Silver bells, silver bells
It's Christmas time in the
city
Ring-a-ling, hear them sing
Soon it will be Christmas
day.
Jingle Bells
Words and Music: James Lord
Pierpon, 1857 (original
Title: "One-Horse Open
Sleigh")
Dashing through the snow
In a one-horse open sleigh
Through the fields we go
Laughing all the way.
Bells on bob-tail ring
Making spirits bright
What joy it is to ride and
sing
A sleighing song tonight.
Chorus:
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way,
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh,
O
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way,
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh.
A day or two ago
I thought I'd take a ride
And soon Miss Fanny Bright
Was seated by my side;
The horse was lean and lank
Misfortune seemed his lot,
We ran into a drifted bank
And there we got upsot.
Chorus
A day or two ago
The story I must tell
I went out on the snow
And on my back I fell;
A gent was riding by
In a one-horse open sleigh
He laughed at me as I there
sprawling laid
But quickly drove away.
Chorus
Now the ground is white,
Go it while you're young,
Take the girls along
And sing this sleighing
song.
Just bet a bob-tailed bay,
Two-forty as his speed,
Hitch him to an open sleigh
and crack! You'll take the
lead. Chorus
Sleigh Ride
Just hear those sleigh bells
jingle-ing
Ring ting tingle-ing too
Come on, it's lovely weather
For a sleigh ride together
with you
Outside the snow is falling
And friends are calling "You
Hoo"
Come on, it's lovely weather
For a sleigh ride together
with you
Giddy-yap giddy-yap
giddy-yap, let's go
Let's look at the snow
We're riding in a wonderland
of snow
Giddy-yap giddy-yap
giddy-yap, it's grand
Just holding your hand
We're gliding along with the
song of a wintry fairy land
Our cheeks are nice and rosy
and comfy cozy are we
We're snuggled up together
like two birds of a feather
would be
Let's take the road before
us and sing a chorus or two
Come on, it's lovely weather
For a sleigh ride together
with you
There's a birthday party at
the home of Farmer Gray
It'll be the perfect ending
of a perfect day
We'll be singing the songs
we love to sing without a
single stop
At the fireplace while we
watch the chestnuts pop --
Pop! Pop! Pop!
There's a happy feeling
nothing in the world can buy
When they pass around the
coffee and the pumpkin pie
It'll nearly be like a
picture print by Currier and
Ives
These wonderful things are
the things
We remember all through our
lives.
Let
It Snow
Oh the weather outside is
frightful
But the fire is so
delightful
And since we've no place to
go
Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
Let It Snow!
It doesn't show signsof
stopping
And I've bought some corn
for popping
The lights are turned way
down low
Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
Let It Snow!
When we finally kiss
goodnight
How I'll hate going out in
the storm!
But if you'll really hold me
tight
All the way home I'll be
warm
The fire is slowly dying
And, my dear, we're still
goodbying
But as long as you love me
so
Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
Let It Snow!
Winter Wonderland
Sleigh bells ring, are you
listening?
In the lane, snow is
glistening.
A beautiful sight, we're
happy tonight
Walking in a winter
wonderland.
Gone away is the bluebird,
here to stay is a new bird
He sings a love song, as we
go along
Walking in a winter
wonderland
In the meadow we can build a
snowman
Then pretend that he is
Parson Brown
He'll say: Are you married?
we'll say: No, man
But you can do the job when
you're in town
Later on, we'll conspire as
we dream by the fire
To face unafraid the plans
that we've made
Walking in a winter
wonderland.
In the meadow we can build a
snowman
and pretend that he's a
circus clown
We'll have lots of fun with
mister snowman
until the alligators knock
him down.
When it snows, ain't it
thrilling?
Though your nose gets a
chilling
We'll frolic and play, the
Eskimo way
Walking in a winter
wonderland,
Walking in a winter
wonderland,
Walking in a winter
wonderland.
White Christmas
By Irving Berlin, 1942
Sung by Bing Crosby and
Martha Mears (dubbing for
Marjorie Reynolds) in
"Holiday Inn," 1942
I'm dreaming of a white
Christmas
Just like the ones I used to
know
Where the treetops glisten,
and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the
snow
I'm dreaming of a white
Christmas
With every Christmas card I
write
May your days be merry and
bright
And may all your Christmases
be white
I'm dreaming of a white
Christmas
With every Christmas card I
write
May your days be merry and
bright
And may all your Christmases
be white.
Have Yourself a Merry Little
Christmas
By Ralph Blane and Hugh
Martin, 1943
Sung by Judy Garland in
"Meet Me in St. Louis," 1944
Have yourself a merry little
Christmas,
Let your heart be light
From now on,
our troubles will be out of
sight.
Have yourself a merry little
Christmas,
Make the Yule-tide gay,
From now on,
our troubles will be miles
away.
Here we are as in olden
days,
Happy golden days of yore.
Faithful friends who are
dear to us
Gather near to us once more.
Through the years
We all will be together,
If the Fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the
highest bough.
And have yourself
A merry little Christmas
now.
The Christmas Song (Chestnut
Song)
Words and Lyric by Mel Torme
and Robert Wells, July 1945
Recorded by Nat Cole, 1946
Chestnuts roasting on an
open fire,
Jack Frost nipping on your
nose,
Yuletide carols being sung
by a choir,
And folks dressed up like
Eskimos.
Everybody knows a turkey and
some mistletoe,
Help to make the season
bright.
Tiny tots with their eyes
all aglow,
Will find it hard to sleep
tonight.
They know that Santa's on
his way;
He's loaded lots of toys and
goodies on his sleigh.
And every mother's child is
going to spy,
To see if reindeer really
know how to fly.
And so I'm offering this
simple phrase,
To kids from one to
ninety-two,
Although its been said many
times, many ways,
A very Merry Christmas to
you.
It's Beginning to Look a Lot
Like Christmas
It's beginning to look a lot
like Christmas
Ev'rywhere you go;
Take a look in the
five-and-ten,
Glistening once again
With candy canes and silver
lanes aglow.
It's beginning to look a lot
like Christmas,
Toys in ev'ry store,
But the prettiest sight to
see
Is the holly that will be
On your own front door.
A pair of hopalong boots and
a pistol that shoots
Is the wish of Barney and
Ben;
Dolls that will talk and
will go for a walk
Is the hope of Janice and
Jen;
And Mom and Dad can hardly
wait for school to start
again.
It's beginning to look a lot
like Christmas
Ev'rywhere you go;
There's a tree in the Grand
Hotel,
One in the park as well,
The sturdy kind that doesn't
mind the snow.
It's beginning to look a lot
like Christmas;
Soon the bells will start,
And the thing that will make
them ring
Is the carol that you sing
Right within your heart.
I'll Be Home For Christmas
I'll be home for Christmas
You can count on me
Please have snow and
mistletoe
and presents on the tree.
Christmas Eve will find me
Where the love light gleams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams.
Feliz Navidad
Feliz Navidad
Feliz Navidad
Feliz Navidad
Prospero Ano y Felicidad.
Feliz Navidad
Feliz Navidad
Feliz Navidad
Prospero Ano y Felicidad.
I wanna wish you a Merry
Christmas
I wanna wish you a Merry
Christmas
I wanna wish you a Merry
Christmas
From the bottom of my heart.
A Holly Jolly Christmas
Have a holly, jolly
Christmas;
It's the best time of the
year
I don't know if there'll be
snow
but have a cup of cheer.
Have a holly, jolly
Christmas;
And when you walk down the
street
Say Hello to friends you
know
and everyone you meet.
Oh ho the mistletoe
hung where you can see;
Somebody waits for you;
Kiss her once for me.
Have a holly jolly Christmas
and in case you didn't hear
Oh by golly, have a holly
jolly Christmas this year.
Go Tell it on the Mountain
African-American Spiritual,
early 19th c.
Go, tell it on the mountain,
Over the hills and ev'ry
where;
Go, tell it on the mountain
That Jesus Christ is born!
While shepherds kept their
watching
O'er silent flocks by night,
Behold throughout the
heavens
There shone a holy light.
The shepherds feared and
trembled
When lo! above the earth
Rang out the angel chorus
That hailed our Savior's
birth.
Down in a lowly manger
The humble Christ was born,
And God sent us salvation
That blessed Christmas morn.
It's the Most Wonderful Time
of the Year
By Eddie Pola, George Wyle,
1963
It's the most wonderful time
of the year.
With the kids jingle
belling,
and everyone telling you,
"Be of good cheer,"
It's the most wonderful time
of the year.
There'll be parties for
hosting,
marshmallows for toasting
and
caroling out in the snow.
there'll be scary ghost
stories and
tales of the glories of
Christmases
long, long ago.
It's the most wonderful time
of the year.
There'll be much
mistletoeing
and hearts will be glowing,
when loved ones are near.
It's the most wonderful time
of the year.
Auld Lang Syne
Words by Robert Burns
Should auld acquaintance be
forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be
forgot,
And days o’ lang syne!
Chorus:
For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne,
We’ll tak a cup o’ kindness
yet
For auld lang syne!
We twa hae run about the
braes,
And pu’d the gowans fine,
But we’ve wander’d mony a
weary foot
Sin’ auld lang syne.
Chorus
We twa hae paidl’t in the
burn
Frae morning sun till dine,
But seas between us braid
hae roar’d
Sin’ auld lang syne.
Chorus
And there’s a hand, my
trusty fiere,
And gie’s a hand o’ thine,
And we’ll tak a right guid
willie-waught
For auld lang syne!
Chorus
And surely ye’ll be your
pint’ stoup,
And surely I’ll be mine!
And we’ll tak a cup o’
kindness yet
For auld lang syne!
